Your first burn and thereafter should melt the wax to the rims, to reach a full melt pool. This should take 2-4 hours but not longer (never burn a candle longer than 4 hours at a time), this is essential for safety and the prevention of tunneling of wax.
Always trim your burned wicks after each use to prevent high flames. This will also ensure your candle burns clean with minimum soot.
Stop using the candle once it reaches 1/2 inch from the of the container or candle. (You can return the container to us, recycle it or repurpose it!)
Put out your flame when finished by gently blowing or snuffing it out. Then replace the lid. Do not use water to extinguish a candle (think bacon grease in a hot pan).
Keep candles away from things that catch fire like flammables and from kids and pets.
Try to keep candles away from drafts and always burn them on a safe steady surface.
Keep away form direct sunlight to prevent discoloration.
